The Spaniard now has four Grand Slam trophies after his two Wimbledon triumphs, his US Open victory in 2022 and his French Open win last month.
The Serbian said: “He was definitely very hot today. Obviously not the result I wanted, and in the first couple of sets the level of tennis wasn’t up to par from my side.
He added: “I have to say I’m very satisfied. Wimbledon has always been a childhood dream of mine, and every time I step onto this court I feel like it’s the first time. I’m a child living my childhood dream once again.”
It comes a little over a month since the 37-year-old Djokovic underwent surgery for a torn meniscus in his right knee after an injury during the French Open.
As the match was taking place, Sky Sports’ Raz Mirza at Wimbledon said: “Alcaraz has dominated the Djokovic serve and longer rallies from the baseline. The Spaniard is in a different league right now. This is elite tennis!”
